Cardio Vascular Diagnostic and Screening Services
Cardio Vascular Diagnostic and Screening Services
We are a team of specialist physiologists and cardiac nurses with many years experience in cardiovascular diagnostics. We have trained and worked in some of the UK's leading specialist hospitals.
We provide a diagnostic service for cardiologists, general physicians, oncologists and general practitioners. We offer a range of non invasive cardiac investigations including 12 lead ECG, Echocardiography, Carotid Ultrasound, Holter monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. We have a clinic in Essex and will be opening our new central London clinic in July/August 2021.
We also provide a cardiac sports screening service for athletes. We have worked with the FA on their screening programme for many years and are now working with other sports including cricket and rugby. Our screening team can visit your club for a mobile screening or individual athletes can be screened at either of our clinics in Essex or Central London.
We are currently working on expanding our cardiac risk assessment programme for businesses and individuals. We can currently offer this cardiovascular screening service at our Essex clinic and will soon be offering this as a mobile service and at our central London clinic.
All tests are carried out by fully accredited physiologists and nurses. Medical reports, where required, are by consultant cardiologists.
All sports screenings are reported by cardiologists who are specialists in this field.
We are committed to making your visit to us as pleasant, comfortable and efficient as possible whilst maintaining the highest professional standards.

An echocardiogram is a painless non invasive procedure using ultrasound to gather information about your heart size and function. It allows us to measure the size of the chambers of your heart, the thickness of the walls, how the heart muscle contracts and relaxes and how the heart valves open and close. Using a technique called Doppler we can look at the blood flow within your heart.
You will be asked to strip to your waist and lay on the couch. Three ECG electrodes will be applied to your torso and the images are obtained using a small hand held transducer which will be placed lightly on your chest. The physiologist will move the transducer around to obtain the best images and to look at your heart from different angles.
The test can take up to 40 minutes depending on the measurements we need to take.
A carotid ultrasound, also called a carotid duplex, is a non invasive technique using ultrasound to look at the carotid arteries which run up either side of your neck. We look at the anatomy of the arteries, the thickness of the lining of the arteries, whether there is any plaque within the arteries and also the blood flow.

You will be asked to loosen or remove any tight clothing around your neck. We will ask you to lay on the couch and to tilt your head back . The monitors are small and are attached to your chest with up to three electrodes. Most monitors are water repellent so you will be able to shower, but not bathe or swim, whilst you have it attached.
Monitors can be worn from 24 hours up to a week or more. Your doctor will decide, depending on your symptoms, how long they would like you to wear the monitor for.
You will be given some spare electrodes and told how to change them should you need or want to.
We will also explain how to remove the monitor and what to do with it once you have removed it.
It normally takes about 15 minutes to fit a monitor.

A cuff, the same as is used to measure your blood pressure in the clinic, will be placed around your upper arm and this is attached to a small box which you can either have around your waist on a belt or on a strap that you can place over your shoulder. The box is programmed to take your blood pressure at regular intervals throughout the day and night whilst you go about your normal day.
We ask that you do not bathe or shower while you are wearing the monitor.
An ambulatory blood pressure monitor is normally worn for 24 hours. At the end of the 24 hours you can either come back to the clinic to have it removed, or if it is easier for you we will tell you how to remove the monitor and how to return it to us for analysis.
It normally takes about 15 to 20 minutes to fit a BP monitor.
